An electronic device that automatically ensures the precise guiding of a telescope during an observation. Even though a telescope may be driven by electric motors to follow the tracks of the stars across the sky, further minor corrections are normally necessary to prevent the field of view drifting somewhat during a long observation. An autoguider contains a photoelectric device that can detect such a drift and activate the drive motors to compensate.
